Default New Gamo CFX Trigger Group

I have just discovered this change. It looks very different and has a plastic trigger where the original was metal.

This was on a brand new Gamo CFX purchased in the US. Here are the new owner's comments. He is from South East Texas. The two images he mentions are those in my initial posting.

I purchased from Gamo USA a new CFX, and on the same day a new GRT III upgrade (9-9-09). Most everything I see on this site says the GRT III is the thing to have. After reviewing all the installation info (ala CDT, Joe Meyers, Chuck Adams, et. al.) I have decided I have a new species of trigger because it doesn't look anything like the ones shown in various instructions. The new blade is a polymer, not stamped metal. I will include 2 images of the new assembly. Question is: will the GRT III work with this new configuration?

Will the VT-1 work with the new configuration?

We will have to see.

My faith in Gamo is starting to turn into disgust slowly but surely. They seem to be replacing as many metal parts as possible to "polymers" (read PLASTIC) on the new models. The only metal parts left of the new models are receivers, pistons and spring. Oh yes, and the metal insert in the plastic barrel.

I predict that, soon the "metal" Gamo's will become more desireable. The plastic ones are much less "tuneable" than the metal ones. Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I can't take plastic on a rifle. Maybe that that's why there is such a big demand for metal aftermarket parts for airguns.

Dislike of the plastic components is universal. Enthusiasts in the US are serously considering taking their guns to good gunsmiths and having the plastic covered barrels replaced with steel ones. The cost is an inhibiting factor.

This was posted on a US forum a few minutes ago.

The GRT-III will not work in the CFX with the new plastic trigger as is. I haven't physically seen one yet but there is a considerable difference. We need to determine what it will take or if possible to modify it to make it work. Gene did tell me that he was going to order one to see what other changes have been made. I've gotten e-mails from several new owners stating that the new trigger isn't any better or even as good as the original trigger in the CFX. I have a feeling that the CFX part of the Gamo market is going to drop.

When you have CharlieDaTuna making comments like this, the good reputation of the CFX will go down the toilet.

He specifically mentions the CFX, but all Gamos using that engine will also use the new trigger group and these negative comments will also apply to them.

Goodbye Gamo, hello Norica, hello Hatsan!

Dammit. And there I was with my optimistic personality hoping that Gamo would learn from BSA. Let's hope BSA doesn't go the same way.

Now I probably have to design a whole friggin METAL trigger group.

This was posted on the US forum on the 18th of this month.

If you hold off too long you will not find a BSA Lightning XL that is made in the UK. They are being sent to Spain at the Gamo plant to be produced. Who knows what the quality will be.

Goodbye Gamo, hello Norica, hello Hatsan!
This presents an entirely new opportunity for the entrepreneural gun smithing types: An entirely new trigger group modeled on the AA TX.

Volume production will ensure viability if made to fit both old and new trigger group mountings.

This will take modified Gamos up market big time!
