    Default Maccari Upgrade

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a good airgun smith in Cape town that I can take my HW80 to for an upgrade? I received my Macari Ultraglide kit in the post the other day, but no one seems to be able to help me. And it seems like nobody even knows about the Maccari kits..?? :messed:

I have a spring compressor - the old sawn off G-Clamp type. Never done an HW before so have no idea what lies behind the end-cap.

    Thanks for the reply guys,
I have taken my 80 to City Guns, as they seem to be the only people that will work on it. Hopefully I will have it back before the weekend!
The kit that I ordered is the "Soft Ultraglide kit" It is detuned so that it will give less power, but it should be much smoother to shoot. So I am looking forward to getting it back.
Will let you guys know how she is behaving.

Do you think your HW 80 is a good buy?
I ask because I was advised against buying one
due to accuracy problems. What caliber is yours?

O well... I'm not the best of shots, but I do manage to shoot 2cm groups at 30m (every now and again), using H&N Finale Match pellets. The 80 is a bit on the heavy side, especially after adding a scope, but nothing that you can't get used to. I must admit, that it does take its toll on accuracy when you get tired.
Mine is .177 and so far I have been very happy with it. Would like to take it hunting sometime, as currently I am only shooting paper targets.
The reason for the ultra glide upgrade is to get rid of some recoil and noise. I also have a HW50s, and that is a really sweet gun. Almost no recoil, very accurate and quite.

You should avoid light wadcutters in a magnum springer like the HW80...stick to AA or JSB 8.4 grainers to avoid stressing the internals.
Also avoid heavier pellets in the 10gr range.
Wadcutters suck beyond 20m in the accuracy dept especially at higher velocities.
