Default Field Target / HFT in the UK

Mike Potgieter has asked me if I could outline some details about FT and HFT in the UK.

The two disciplines are currently governed by two separate organizations these being the BFTA for FT:

    http://www.airgunshed.co.uk/BFTA

    and UKAHFT see link:

    http://ukahft.co.uk/2006/default.htm

Both disciplines share common ground in that conventional field targets are used. However HFT has a maximum distance of 45 yards against 55 yards in FT. HFT does not allow the sitting position and the other major difference is that you are not allowed to touch the scope once you commence the course of fire i.e no rangefinding or dialling - this has tended to keep the scope magnification at 10x or less to allow the maximum focal distance on the scopes.

For the precise differences please browse the websites at the above links.

To keep with the UK rules is most likely the best .Although how you guys get to be so good with range finding for HFT is beyond me.

I think we must "keep" HFT for springers only, so that we can get the 1000's out there with their basic equipment to shoot with us.
