not so much in joburg, but here in durbs, it's so humid it's not advisable to keep the rifles in the bag or case.

Urabus has a point .All you need worry about is moisture. The guns just require a good cleaning before storing them.(dony want rust patches from finger prints.A bit of TLC for the woodwork before storage will go far too.Where an how you store your gun comes down to a matter of space.I lock mine up in their alu cases.Problem is if the sponge in the case is moist your gun will rust big time.

I turned my newly blued 303 into a piece of rusted metal by storing it in a bag (wasn't moist) and keeping it in a safe for 2 months. Rather oil and store it in the safe with no bag.

Which model .303 you got Cobus? Mk4? bog standard or modded? imo, anyone who turns a perfectly good .303 into some sort of racer should have his nadgers sqeezed in a vice, unless ofcourse its one of those Swazi Army versions that where made so they couldnt hit an elephant at 50 paces.

Lewis I have read about the guns rusting in their bags .The fact that mine is out the box more than it is in the box might be the factor that stops things going wrong.Makes you worry when you read about that sort of thing in such a short time.

I have a modded Mk4 (leave the vice Brian, the missus is already turning the handle) and had it re-blued after the rusting episode. I now have a small 12v globe on a timer in the safe to burn any moisture away.

Sacrilege, I'm coming over to give it a nip up when she's finished, just to get that final "eek"
