    Default Predator Polymer tipped pellets

I bought a tin of these from Target Specialists to see how they would perform.

Well, yesterday at the range I tried a couple through my HW97K and as far as accuracy goes, I can put one pellet on top of the other at 30m.

My next test was penetration. Not having access to ballistics gel or something similiar, I tried the old telephone book penetration test and compared it against an AA Field pellet.
The Predator pellet went a lot deeper and the head mushroomed beautifully.

The only downside to this pellet is cost. At a R140 - R150 per tin of 200, it's quite pricey!

Would I buy it? Short answer is yes. But only for big game like Guinea Fowl. I'm not going to waste these pellets on pigeons because it will over penatrate each time.

I trialed these pellets for the local importer before they started to import them. I drove them in one of my test rifles fro 940 to 1100+ fps and they were bang on, the smallest group was 6mm edge to edge or 1.5mm CtoC at 1100fps!!! I will dig out the pics and post them.
Penatration at 30m into plastercine was +-50mm and they opened up to .25 cal or 6.35mm from 4.5mm!
Not cheap by they seem very effective, I only had about 30 odd pellts from a small sample tin so was unable to do any field work with them, but I have just found a farm in KZN were I can hunt cane rats, so a tin or two will be on order shortly.
Pellet grain wieght was 8.3gns on average with very little spread, pellts made by JSB for a US firm.

Hardy, will keep it in mind, let me see what the farmer says and I mite be able to make a plan, they don't want lots of "gun toting yahoos" chasing round the farm, so I will have to educate them that we are great guys.

PS, Boondock the pellets realy open up, I am rushing arround here like mad(yes I know in Natal, everyone thinks I'm mad!!!) but when I get a chance I will post the pics from the test session. :rotflmao
