    Default My New Toy.

    Hiya.

Well I've done it. Really done it.

Took the plunge and got myself a PCP setup.

Stopped by Target Specialists in Boksburg on Friday afternoon just to pick up some pellets 'n have a chat.....
Ran into Refresh who was picking up his new HW100 setup.

Well I walked out a couple of hours later with a complete setup aswell.

I traded in my HW97 and sped back home with:
    Air Arms S400 Carbine.
    Hawk Airmax 4-12X44AO Scope
    Hawk Mounts
    Woodchucks Silencer
    Gun Bag
    Pellets
    300 Lt Cylinder
    All fittings.

I can't believe just how accurate this rifle is... and QUIET! Man it's like a sparrows fart!

I would also like make a special mention to the guys at Target Specialists - Hennie and Gavin. Great guys! Full of advice - no laughing at my probably silly newbie questions about PCP's. Real salt-of-the-earth people with plenty of time for everyone.

I've had this stupid grin on my face since Friday evening and it will probably stay that way for a while to come.

    Very very chuffed.

Okay - sorry if this bored you - but I just had to tell someone! This wifes impression was, "Oh yes dear - very nice."

btw, why the woodchucks? i thought the AA ones are better made, quieter, lighter....etc

also which HW100 was it?? mki (t/h) or mkii (sporter)?

Well, I went through this a while ago and believe me the grin does not go away for some time.

I noticed you guys mention of the HW100 and I would like to know what the difference is in the mki and mkii and how do you tell the difference? I was also wondering where I might land my paws on a good silencer for the HW100 and price. The one fitted is not too great.

Keep grinning - man it is good to be alive

Now isn't this typical? I could only laugh when avion showed me his setup this weekend, great great setup, but thats not the thing, the irony about all this is that when I was picking up my new Weihrauch HW100 avion was there in the shop, I could not get him to fire a single shot with my new toy, he was worried that he would like it and buy one don't think it it made a diff, I walk out the shop 5 min before it closed and he still buys one...Either way, it's a great gun which came into it's own this weekend , congrats on the new purchase....
ps: looking forward to the club shot coming up in Jan.

    hey, refresh.........

do us a favour and do a "proper" test on the new toy.
i'm interested to see how effective the regulator is on high power air rifles. thanks.

    HW100 is definitely not regulated.
It has some kind of balanced valving system.

sorry my mistake, a "adjustable self regulating valve".

If you say "adjustable self regulating valve", I presume that you can adjust the power to bring it down to 800fps with AAs. If that's the case it's not a bad buy.
Dropping the speed should also give you alot more shots.
    How much 4 a spare cylinder ?

Congrats and many happy hunting hours for both Avion and Refresh. I must just say that my AA400 brought the bacon(Pigeons) home on Sunday quite well at 20-35+ meters. The guys present can attest to that.

The Weihrauch HW100 , according to Hennie and Gavin at TS, is regulated. I made quite sure of this before I bought one... If not then there is going to be some explaining to be done by them. I'll try and do a nice review on it as soon as I have some time, not many sites on the gun since laws prohibit the high-end rifles in some states.. Must just say that my record so far (not bragging, all the gun) is 28 10.2g pellets though the same hole in one session from 30m, NO CLOVER LEAF out standing accuracy.

I have seen a test on the hw100 by KB and he claims +-80 full power shots per fill. He also claims more than 1100fps with 8gr and 995fps with 10.5gr pellets.

My "full power shot" question is - if the cilinder holds 0.175 litre or so and is charged to 200 bar and the rifle have a very good self regulating setup and is usable to say 90 bar, well then you'll have about 110 bar for 80 shots at say a conservative 1000fps which = 1.375 bar / shot and this is where they lost me??? This gun must have something special because my S400 is doing 880fps with 8gr pellets and use about 1.5 bar / shot which = around 65 shots / fill.

Maybe someone have done the test and is able to help me out here??

I mean if the claims is accurate, this is one super efficient system!

300 Lt??? Who on earth wrote that? Wasn't me <blush> musta been the cat jumping on the keyboard. %-6

Actually a 12 Lt. Think perhaps I've been playing with figures too much over the weekend.

Yeah Refresh, can't explain it. Musta been something in the air. Spur of the moment thing, although I can honestly say that I don't regret the purchase one bit. Still grinning.

    Ice:
Do you have the Classic or Carbine 400?
I got 63 decent shots tonite on my carbine. Also what fill presure do you fill to? I'm doing about 180 - 185 on the bottle's gauge.

I went for the Woodchuck silencer because it's plenty quite for me - coming from a history of only springers, plus it can only be cheaper than the AA import. (Didn't ask about the AA price - just used me noggin.
