Default Pump up air pistols and rifles

I have been thinking of getting a more accurate air gun than my springer but don’t wanna carry a dive tank wherever I go plinking (the cost of a PCP is also outa my reach). So I would need a pump up Pneumatic pistol and rifle to do some training with. Been surfing the net the following items look promising:

    Rifles
    1) Crosman Mod 2100
    2) Daisy Mod 901

    Pistols
    1) Gamo PR-45
    2) Gamo Compact
    3) Xisico xs-b5-10

Do you guys have any comments on the said items and do you know where to get them? Or is there anything similar that I can make do with? Please just don’t tell me greatdeal has them. I have actually placed an order for a PR-45 on Greatdeal.co.za two weeks back but those people told me (after sending several e-mails and I eventually phoned) that the item was out of stock and was on back order and they couldn’t tell me when I can expect it. I think I am going to ask them for the money back if I don’t get it by next week. What’s wrong with these guys? They actually list out of stock items on the web sites and they don’t reply e-mails.

Or you could try bulldog.co.za if you want to do the online thing.

In temrs of pump up rifles, the current Crosman / Daisy guns are pretty cheap and basic, best suited to plinking.

If someone is importing them into SA, the Sheridan/Benjamin pump ups are way better, or if you can find one of the old Japanese Sharp rifles.

Alternatively look for a better quality spring rifle, such as an HW95K for example.

If CO2 capsules are not too expensive then the XS78 is worth a look as well.

Pistol wise the two Gamo's are good, not familiar with the Xisico gun. Also worth considering is the Weihrauch HW40.

Now that I think of it, Sharp edge does have Benjamins in stock. Should have gotten it. I didn't buy it because the sales person sounded a bit ignorant (I am no expert in airguns but at least I read UK gun mags).
    He told me the following:
    1) No optical sight will take the kinda shock from a springer (so he hasn't seen the Optima sights we IPSC guys put on top of a pistol slide).
    2) ALL air-guns that handle both pellets and BBs have smoothbore (the cheap R300 black fang pistol on his shelf has rifled bore and so do some Gamos)
    3) Break barrels are better than underlevers, there must be a good reason why most springers are break barrels (so an Uno is better than a Jeep because there are more around).
    4) Pump ups don't last (most review I have seen complain about the look, bad balance, triggers, accuracy but nothing is said about the service life)

Well, I think many gun shop staff need serious training or they are going to drive the customers away. A guy tried to sell me some 38Spl doppies last time I aksed for some of 38super brass in a gunshop. Then just the other day, a gun shop onwer told me that I could never get Law Enforcement only ammo from the USA while having a few boxs of Wincherster SXT +P+ on the shelf.

But then Greatdeal is worst, the Crosman cheap bb gun red sight they have listed as "good from field work and hunting". The airsoft BB gun's red dot was called "Infrared Lazer" (so I need a NV sighting device just to see the lazer dot? can I sue them for that).

I will see if they will ship my stuff or better still, pay me back so that I can fork out some more money to buy a Benjamin from sharp edge.

I wish I read the stuff about greatdeal two weeks back. Thanks guys

Gamo Compact is good for target shooting.
and HW40 is more practical in the field.

their accuracy should be same. but a scoped hw40 beat camo campact easy at longer distance.

Hi Stopper, I have had some of the crosman and daisy pumps, the daisy was lethal on Mynahs at 30+ meters on ten pumps.
Go to our site at www.airguns-online.co.za and look up the Cannon 737, I am going to get one!! It looks like the old Sharp enova, which I have shot with, very accurate, price is +-R800. The great thing about a pump PCP is that you can tune the power to the occasion, velocities up to 1000fps at ten pumps

Thanks again for the info. Just to let you guys know, I fooned BadDeal.co.za just now and they said my PR 45 will be in my post box by thrusday or firday and they can't get the pumpmaster (just about every flee market store has one so I don't know why they can't get one from the supplier and why is this $hit still listed on their web page). Hopefully I will get mine toy soon.
If I am lucky, I am going to get my R555 pumpermaster money back from Baddeal and I think the Cannon 737 is the way to go. I got a cheap underlever pistol from www.airguns-online.co.za the other day and the service was great. The guy dealing with my order phone me 5minutes after I sent the order via e-mail and shipped my toy in time (Ok, he was 1 day late). He was also helpful with pellet choices (even upgraded my Kovohute stardard pellets for the master pellets at no cost) and answered all my e-mails in a day or too. I am gonna get one of those Cannons as soon as I get paid in mid month (damn! just spent my last buck on a Metallica ticket) even if I don't get my money back from Baddeal.

Oh, Allan, I was looking for a crosman 1377 as well (650fps! how can I not?) but sharp edge wants R1300+ for a $60 pistol and I had to wait for the shippment and so on.
