I also wanted one and read reviews about the bsa system and it comes down to that its k@k. The torch is too weak and the laser is poor. The laser dot becomes too big as the distance increases.

BSA, Gamo. I think all these laser are almost the same, with the same power etc, have owned a number of them through the years. But I'll just say this. Once you've gone green, you won't go back

I'm sure you will enjoy the combo for what it is. Enjoy

If you have a decent light with/ without the red filter and an illuminated reticle is the lazer necessary??

I have not taken aim on a lot of rats at night, but the few that I have I've had not problems seeing with enough light and the illuminated reticle.

The laser will give you an idea on range maybe, but not neccessary really. I just baught it for the cool factor and my cat digs it too.

I agree, the laser is not nessasry, a good light with the activation switch on the rifle butt should do the trick,
