I have to share my experience, I followed the link to www.bulldog.co.za after reading a post on the forum from someone that bought a gun there.
The bulldog website is probably the best airgun (sales) related site I've seen in RSA...but that's not all...
The real gem at Bulldog is the owner, Geoffrey Sothern. He is obviously an airgun enthusiast, and a really genuine bloke.
What I love most about this forum is meeting people just like me that love shooting, and I think shooters in general have similar personalities, its almost like meeting a brother, or in a way, looking in a mirror when face to face with a fellow airgunner, and Geoffrey is no exception. One of those guys you just "clique" with. Do any of you guys have pellet holes in the wall at the end of your passage at home? Me neither (my wife is bigger than me), but hey, Geoffrey does!
He generally has everything in stock, on average his prices are about the best I've seen across the range, and if he doesn't have it in stock he gets it quickly. If you're in JHB he'll even deliver it to your door if its on his way anywhere, even if its just a mainspring you're after.
In my experience with the few retailers in the traditional arms and ammunition industry, seldom do you meet sales people with knowledge of or even genuine interest in airguns, as if they hardly warrant the effort as they're not REAL guns (at least thats the impression left by the attitude).
The airgun industry is growing and online retailers like bulldog that make you look forward to the next buying experience are what is needed to maintain the momentum to get existing airgunners to grow their arsenal, and spread the word to win new converts.
At the moment Geoffrey does springers exclusively (but thats where we all started!), and he carries a wide range of other interesting goodies, airgun and non-airgun related, but catering mainly for the outdoorsman.
But enough of my going on, or you'll be wondering next which team I bat for...try www.bulldog.co.za and see for yourself!
