    Default O-rings

    Hiya

Anybody have an idea how long the o-ring in the barrel of the S400 should last? (The one the bolt probe pushes the pellet through.)

I saw one guy at the shoot having to replace his during his stint.
Looks simply enough to do, just a bit tricky to get out.

I don't even have a good guess - 10 000 pellets? 20K? Also, should this o-ring have any kind of lube on it every now and again?

Mine lasted 3 years and then popped without warning. Had it replaced at the DJ challenge. Luckily you can source them at any decent hidrolics shop, I'm planning to keep some spare now, just in case.

Silicon grease is the stuff they use as o-ring lubricant. Petrolem based lubricants should not be used on o-rings.

Silicone grease or oil is OK with Si-rubber (Q) seals, even with Nitrile Rubber (NBR) seals, but NBR seals are also resistant to petroleum based lubes.
Then again, NBR seals are not always appropriate in all apps. Depends on the application.
