I handled a HW75 in a gunshop today and was quite impressed with it's weight, feel and trigger, also seemed to be well built.
Anyone have an opinion on these?
HW75 is good for plinking
unfortunately for informal club shooting none of the HW pistols are suitable except at a really low level...
the Gamo with the orthopaedic grips is more suitable but has a crappy trigger...
best to get a dedicated 10m pistol...there are a few 2nd hand floating about but they only surface sporadically...
HW75 is very nice, well engineered and accurate and quite nicely balanced as well.
It isn't in the same league in terms of handling as a dedicated match pistol such as the Steyr LP10 etc, but it isn't designed to be so trying to draw a comparison is unfair.
I would say it should be OK as an entry level paper puncher, as it is plenty accurate enough - off a rest mine will punch one hole groups at 15 yards.
If you want a similar performance in a cheaper package then the HW40 is worth considering as well.
Dale I think Antman is looking for something to shoot in informal club shooting at 10m olympic style...none of the abovementioned are suitable.
I see FWB65s and the LP2s [and FWB100s] floating about sometimes at around 2 to 3k ....awesome 10m pistols still capable of excellent results in the right hands.
Fair comment, when I read 'informal' I tend to think that doesn't mean going the whole hog on kit, but if you can pick up some reasonable priced s/h gear then why not.
I just wouldn't discount the HW's totally for entry level as they are pretty accurate with good triggers and sights.
