I cannot recommend the Gamo for "competition target shooting and serious recreational target practice"

Rather find a second hand FWB, Walther, Hammerli etc...

I own a Gamo Compact and a Gamo PR45 and my viewpoint is that for value for money it is good and very accurate. I occasionally shoot 10m Olympic 10m targets out doors and easily shoot 90 out of 100 with more practice I should do better. Then you must note with my bad eyes due to age with my reading glasses I can see the sights and the target is out of focus and vice versa with out the glasses I can not see the sights at all.
I paid for a new PR 45 R1050 and Compact R1400 both new. See this link http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews66673.html

I bought one a couple weeks ago as a test. The accuracy is quite good. I mounted it in a vice and every shot went through the same hole. The trigger was acceptably but could be improved. The adjustment screw didn't seem to make a difference to the performance of the trigger. I found this link and did the mods a what a difference. It is really enjoyable to shoot.

I also have a Crosman 2240 with 12.5 inch barrel doing 600fps in 22 with a Bushnell Trophy red dot scope for hunting. 2 Weirauch HW40 pistols with Bushnell Trophy Red Dot for Sillhouette.

It's not in everyones budget to buy a FWB, Walther or Hammerli.
You may not make the Olympic team, but you sure as hell can have some good fun with a Gamo Compact, HW40, [link=http://www.diana-airguns.de/index.php?id=139&L=1&width=1024&height =768]Diana 5G[/link] or some of the Crosman Co2 pistols. Talking about pistols, I bought Boondock's Crosman 2300T.... AWSOME.
Got the laser for it today. It's going to be my rat killing machine.

    Ok, point taken...

    Serious vs. recreational
You focused on 'serious', and I focused on 'recreational'.
Just inform me please, what is "serious recreational target practise" ?

Serious recreational ... almost like "military intelligence"
