    Default Scope creep problems

    Hi
I am new to the forum and new to air rifles, and would like to draw on some of your expertise.

I bought myself a Gamo Shodow 1000 about 2 weeks ago, it came with a Gamo sportier scope. The problem I have is that the scope keeps on moving (creeping), I have already bought new stronger mounts (two piece) and a better scope stop mount, but with now success.
Another thing is that the rifle didnít come with a scope mount rail; it only has the mount receiver (groves), so I cannot fix the scope mount to the rail.

    What are my options?
    Who can I contact?
Will a bridge mount resolve the creep problem?

    Thanks Jaco

Hi JCJVR, I did a lot of Gamo mods with scopes and peep sights. Contact Sniper at Target Specialists.

Get a scope arrestor or get a mount that has a pin that srews into the rifle.

Decent 1 pc mount with 4 mounting screws, the scope arrestor block with the orange rubber removed, or the make it even better, 1 block in the front and 1 in the back of the GOOD QUALITY 1 pc mount, those R 100 mounts just don't do the job

Lewis if that is the case that dealer should not be selling spring guns.
I'm sure it isnt the first 1 the dealer sold which caused zero problems ...

I also had the same problem with my Hatsan ... (scope creep and inexperienced dealer that didn't really care)

The question is ... does the dealer care ? Take it back and let's all find out !

Dealers that have had long term success and are spoken highly of on this forum are the ones I would support.

The dealer that sold me the rifle is inexperienced (told me this is there first batch). I bought it there because they sold the rifle for a really good price.
I knew that there might be some startup problems (read some articles on the net), but at the price I thought that I can tackle the problems one by one.

Thanks for all the replays, I appreciate

    JCJVR
in general you need expensive high quality mounts on "cheaper" springguns
    and
can use (but most don't) really cheap mounts on a expensive PCP
weird, but only because of the recoil.

Hawke 1-piece Match Mount with integral arrestor pin will do fine on that springer. Approx R200.
I have 2 - 1 on my Beeman RX2 and 1 on my Diana 300R - no "creepy" problems at all.

Agree with Fucius - have one on my B40 & one on my B19 which kicks like a mule (had to drill holes for arrestor pin in top of action as the B19 does not come with them) - it's very similar to the Gamo Shadow 1000 if I am not mistaken?- those scopes don't go anywhere!

I found a place that can supply me with an original Gamo scope rail mount that has a hole for the arrestor pin, will also be getting a good quality one piece mount. Hopefully I will have all the parts at the end of the week.

Will keep you posted on the end result.
    Thanks for all the replies
