Default Ultra premium tuning kit - HW97k

    Howdy all.

Does anyone have any experience with these tuning kits from Scotland?

    www.chambersgunmakers.co.uk/TUNING.htm

"These kits contain all that is required to Ultra Tune your weapon, including Ultra Premium Mainspring,Ultra Spring Guide,Top Hat,Piston washers,Breech/Transfer seals,Ultra grease & lube, along with full instructions & parts plan."

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Andre

I read on some reviews that the Ox mainspring is not really that good.

My opinion would be to rather go for the maccari kits in the USA, i have one, spyker has one, and i am sure that a hell of a lot more folk in sa ha a macarri kit than the brits kit. I have never, ever heard a complaint against maccari kitds, they are awesome. not too pricey and cost about $8 to ship them here, no taxes or whatever and it takes about 2-4 weeks. They also ussually have different kind of kits depending on what you want.

Maccari is a bit more of a gamble...like a home industry, no instructions supplied, difficult to correspond with the guy.

The macacri kits airrifleheadquarters.com is very lekker, it is made to do the jobs, no frills, the kit comes with a new spring and guides and a botlle of tar, then you can add extrra molly lube and a seal if you want, i recommend doing that. check the kits out and get one.

I have both kits for my Pro-Sport and have tried both extensively.
I would give the edge to the Venom kit...has a much tighter firing cycle.

Damn, "temporary out of stock" Wonder how long it will take. Thank you both again. "Scholar and gentlemen" you are indeed. Guido, the V-Mach FAC Mk2 I assume? Is there a difference between Mk2 & Mk3? I think I have the Mk3. It had the chequering on the the front of stock as well.
Also, according to BAR the energy will increase to 15+ ft lbs, (20.34Joules). Did you experience a noticable power difference or was it all in the smoothnes of the firing cycle?

If you want my unconditionally honest opinion go for the 12 ft\lbs kit...

Make sure which HW version you have since the chamber dimensions differ slightly...you can tell from the serial number.

The Venom Kits from BAR are out of stock which is a bugger. Maccari parts are excellent although his kits do not contain a piston seal, you have to purchase that separetly, and they are out of stock for a few months according to his website which is also a bugger...

Don't know how long it will take for new Venom kits to be back in stock at BAR. Havn't had any personal experience with them, only what i've read on forums, but they seemed to be really highly thought of.

Thanks for that Dave. I must say, I mailed BAR, Airrifleheadquarters and Chambers. The following document was sent to me from ARH..... (this following my question what energy can be expected when fitting their kit) absolute BS. BAR not replying to e-mails, and Chambers was the only one with professional reply.

    Below message from ARH

    Dear Sir,
The Spezial kit description explains exactly what it is. (It doesn't)
Other questions answered with this document,
Shipping rates are listed on check out.

    Thank You
    ARH LLC

And then the document attached said this:

How Much Velocity Will I Get?
I have no idea as I'm not installing the parts and I do not
know If you have a good gun ( great tolerances) or a bad gun ( tube issues etc)
I do not know how much lubrication you are going to put on the spring or
If you will size a seal If your tube is too small etc. Throw in elevation, pellet weight
and size and no one can say. Is your barrel cut and does it now have a choke
    or not?
Bottom line, Take four R9's from various years of manufacture.
All are OEM with factory parts and unmodified. You can get from 790 fps
in .177 with a 7.9 CPL and you can get 990 fps and anywhere in between.
I say this drawing from years of experience. For those that think the spring
is the key, it's often not the key. The receiver and seal tolerances and the barrel and
breech make far more difference than the spring. Not to mention what stroke
is the gun? Was it designed for FAC export or a home market with power restrictions.
You can slop in too much dampening compound and see a 150 fps reduction
in velocity. When you ask the owner how much they used, it's often they
    claim, very little.
So I can not answer these questions unless I have the rifle in hand.
    Thanks
    ARH.

    Chambers reply was the following:

    Hi,
Cost of P&P by airmail is 8.40.
The power after fitting one of these units would vary between each gun.
We have fitted one to an HW97 and it chroned at 19.6 lb/ft.

    regards

Do yourself a favour and order the Maccari kit from Jim Maccari here: http://www.airguns.citymax.com/page/page/251327.htm
It'll cost you far less in $ than in Pounds and you won't be disappointed.
