    Default Leupold 40X45 Competition Series........AMAZING

I eventually got the time to test drive my new scope as there are not many provincials anymore now. Except from the powerfull optics as suspected from a scope this calibre, i was mostly impressed by the detail ranging at distances from 35m and up. You can actually see the difference between even 1m at 45 - 50m. I tested it in on FT target in shade, and then on a target in the sun and could only get a difference of 1.5m at 45m. Amazing!!
I started at 12H30 ranging it in. Later the afternoon a few clouds started to gather and left me in shade (around 16H45) When running quickly through the range it was still spot on. I,ve been shooting the Big Nikko for almost a year now and never experience this. Also on top of this it's almost half the weight of my old scope, which got rid of the top heavyness which was a problem for me in positional shooting. You can feel the difference.
It is really true that you have to learn the scope, it's not easy from the beginning, but after a few hours of shooting you will trust it. Target finding is very easy if you use the right method. So, i'm impressed!!
Look at the photo and check out the detail from 40 - 50m range finding.

The converter Brian is talking about is an "extra Lens" that is mounted on the front of the scope, works great!

Post the picture in the Gallery, its a bit bigger.

The conversion was done by Premier reticles but the old man died and the son doesn't do it anymore. basically it allows you to range find down to 10 meters I believe. One or three of the guys have them in SA.

The Leupold 40 X 45 can rangefind very accurate down to 9.5m. You can still modify it though to reach 8m. We will use it for FT. Very accurate.
