Kuberboef, have a look here on Ebay... they have the exact same module as was used in the DIY cable

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB2-0-to-RS...item27bbd32d83

Then you can just follow the instructions on the link you gave Chrony PC Interface Cable for USB - Yellow Airgun Forum Archive

The other option is to try and google to find your local electronics store to see if they have the
    USB2.0 to RS232 TTL Converter Module PL2303

    Hope it helps !!!!!!

Sorry Andy, i don't have the part numbers.

What i did was i printed the diagram with the part numbers on it at this link (Poor Man's Electronic Chronograph - Yellow Airgun Forum Archive ) and asked the guys at Yebo Electronics in Boston Bellville to assist. Don't know that much about specific parts so i decided it would be the easiest to just take it to them seeing as they are the pro's.

Just make sure they mark which parts are which because both the IR LED emitter and phototransistor look exactly the same... don't get them mixed up.

    Hi Guys,

I've built one as well, works perfectly. Used the following parts from "Electronics 123" in Pretoria. Hope it helps:

Is it not hard to trigger the beams with a 50mm tube? I'm using a 25mm one and its damn hard to trigger both beams with my air rifle

Not at all, I'm using 6 phototransistors, 3 for front, 3 for end. Gives a bigger area to pick up. Works like a charm.

Oh sweet! did you mount the LEDs near the tube for a wider beam of light and then the phototransistors deeper for a narrower beam? Do you mind posting a pic of your creation? :PEDIT: Sorry you picture only showed up now, Im having internet troubles .. been trying to edit this post for the past 5mins now!

How did you wire them up with 3 in front and 3 in the back?

    Probably in series?

    How did you space them?
