good buy or bad??? only good reviews i've seen is from people selling them. all other forums regard them as dangerous, as they tend to explode. advice please.

Malan has a few for sale on this forum....

Once they are sorted they are quite good. They DO NOT explode.

    HUH ?

    Who told you that ?

I have only been in this game for a relatively short time , and I have never heard of one exploding !!

I believe they are a good value for money rifle , and I have seen them once they are tuned and smoothed , shoot really very well .

Certainly equal to most other mid price range PCps:

according to BAM factory...the BAM50/51's air reservoir tube have tested upto 500bar(7200psi). they fine.

any PCP might explode if filled with "oxygen" other than "compressed air".

I have seen one BAM that exploded ( I have the pictures). But this was as a result of the idiot filling the cylinder with pure oxygen. Therefore Oxygen + oil or grease + pressure = Explosion.[br]<div class='spacer'>[img:width=483&height=480]../../Deadlinks/public/1201682187_227_FT44121_bam_1.jpg[/img]</div>

i also know that accident... purely misuse and abuse... it can happen to any PCP, not BAM's fault at all. fortunately, BAM use aluminum valve, so after the ignition of Oxygen + oil , the hi tamperture and puressure escaped from the melting valve. if it's steel valve like some other PCps: the heat and pressure had no where to go but keep built up more... until whole steel tube blow up like a grenade...and that gonna be a huge KABOOM.

Seeing is believing, I would say..... Sometimes you get people rating a rifle by hearsay, without ever trying to shoot with it at all.....!!! All I can say is you must try each rifle out before you buy and the BAM is there amongst the best in its class, once it is tuned.... If you cannot tune it, you can always have it done, or learn how to if you care...

This is a 5-shot group at 20m which was good enough for me.....!!!! It measured 5.1mm outside measurements, which makes it a 0.6mm grouping centre to centre....
    Good enough in my book.......
