Default 10 Year old wants to start shooting, please help!

    Hi Guys,

My 10 year old son wants to start air rifle shooting as a sport. I do not have a clue where to start, please advise. What rifle etc. He lives in Glenmarais, Kemptonpark and we would prefer a club close by.

My experience in the sport is from the 10m indoors match with an old Gecado way back in 1992...

    Regards,

    Dawie

Start him off with an open sight springer. This will embed proper trigger technique. A scope can be added later. Once technique is part of muscle memory he can progress to a pcp. Keep the springer for the start of a practice session. Will amplify if any errors have crept into his shooting technique.

Lots to choose from... I saw one or two 10m shooters in action at an Field target shoot, and I don't think there is a better start than 10m for any shooting sport...

We will be starting silhouettes at Nomads fairly soon. Open sight springer will be one of the classes offered. 6fpe with iron sights will be ideal

Mike suggested that I contact Marelize Snyders.

    Any clubs close to Kemptonpark?

    Where is Nomads?

I remember my sister wanted to take up archery in a flight of fancy, when I got my HW97... I told her try this... so she is shooting "not crap" at 10m... and she says... this is too easy, I think I will prefer the challenge of archery more...

MYA DJS and buy the HW30S in the classifieds. Your son will teach his grandchildren to shoot with it.
