    Default Record Air Pistol

A friend brought me a rather old looking, uncared for Record air pistol. Wanted to know how to use it.

All I can say about it is as follows:

Says on pistol: Cal 4.5mm, FB Record, F, Made in West Germany. Has a sun like logo around the FB and a pentagon around the F?

Currently when cocking it the spring does not seem to lock so cannot be fired.

Would like to try fix it any suggestions?

    Any info on this pistol?

Started in the 60;s with workforce of 20 was producing 40000 pistols in the 80's. Some models had oval pistons.

By all accounts still in business.

Consider taking the trigger section apart. If the spring does not lock it is probably a lever attached to the trigger sear which is either broken or bent or just gummed up. Oftn if a pistol has been lying around, and the previous owner has not looked after it, it may have ceased up due to unsuitable lubricants being used which have hardened and no longer do their job. Alternatively, take all the plastic bits off and give it a soaking in methylated spirits. Does wonders with removing grime, especially old grease. Then lubricate moving parts sparingly and try again.
