    Default NooB Question - S200

Hi guys - here's my 1st silly question:

I got my air rifle (CZ S200S) a few months ago and everything has been going great. Ordered an AA 10 round mag system from BAR and got a friend to bring it over for me. It works fantastically!! Well worth the money.

I have been shooting JSB Fields, and they have been working a treat. I decided to try out the Crosman Accupells recently. They seem to be accurate enough, but on loading they appear to "stick" when you push the bolt forward. This is in contrast to the JSB's which loaded very smoothly. I attributed this to the different pellet design of the Accupells which have a larger/thicker "lip".

Today I loaded a pellet which required quite a lot of pressure on the bolt to load it - ie it seemed to be more sticky than some of the others. Anyway, fired it and thought that was it. However, after that it sounds like the gun is noisier than before when firing. It kind-of sounds the same as when on the odd occasion, the bolt jumps up just as you shoot - as if some air is escaping out the loading area instead of being forced down the barrell.

I am sure there is a seal or o-ring somewhere which I have damaged, but have no clue where. I don't want to start stripping things without having an idea of what I'm doing. Do you guys have any advice for me?

Hope I have described things accurately - but if not I will be happy to clarify things if you lead me in the right direction.

BTW - this is an excellent site - keep up the fun environment and educational posts. i am learning something new every day

Sounds like the probe sealing o-ring has been torn with the bad pellet.

Grab a torch and have a look see down the start of the barrel where you load the pellets in. Really cheap cost wise, bit of a trick to actually get the new one in though. Did mine recently - wife didn't realise just how many swear words I knew. :>

On another note - you might just want to confirm that the mag is loading the pellets nicely. Make sure the mag pellet hole is lined up nicely with the barrel. If it's a bit off centred this could possible create premature wear on the above mentioned o-ring.

I don't have any experience with mag's so someone else might give you some advice on how to ensure it's lined up properly. soz.

    Thanks Avion

Gonna be a bit of a mission to see down the barrel with the mag fitted. I don't think the mag is causing problems itself cos I get the same stickiness if I load the pellets without using the mag cartridge.

Where would I find a replacement o-ring? Is it a specialist part, or can I get it from your average hardware store?

Anyways - problem no 2 - I lost the bloody allen key for my scope mounts, and can't find one that fits. I have both metric and imperial sets, but this seems to be inbetween sizes. I need to remove the scope to take the mag assembly off so I can see down the barrel. Teaching my wife a few swearwords myself now!!

Any airgun shop dealing in PCP's should have 'em. Although you could get it from a 'bearings' shop if you can get the old one out as a sample - you would probably get change from a 50c piece from them. Dirt cheap.
If your uncomfortable doing it yourself, then an Airgun shop shouldn't charge you too much though.

In your area I would say try Potshot (Kolskoot - in afrikaans I think) or Guthries Shooting Range (Jason on this board).

Re: The allan keys - does your metric set include 0.5mm increments? If not I have seen chinese specials sets of 20 keys going for R25.00 at the flea markets. Seeing as your not suppose to overtighten the mounts (or anything on your rifle) the Chinese keys should last a long time.
That said, the CZ might be imperial as you mentioned - try to get a similiar large key set with all the inbetween sizes. Anyone with a CZ know if they are imperial or metric?

Potshot is a bit awkward to find. Its in Strydom Park.
From 4ways got to Ferrieras and turn left. Drive till you go over the highway and move over to the right lane. Stay there until you get to the 2nd robot and take a right. Go down the hill to the next robot and go right again, this will double you back. Drive until you almost reach the blocked off road and look to your left. Its not called either of Avions names, I only found it because I saw a sign in a window. Be prepaired for a shock, tidy is not in their dictionary.
P.S. The lady there was held up and shot by the Stander Gang no less

Never saw Mike's wife there. Yes she was held up by the Stander gang but at their previous shop close to Ranburg hoer skool. I think that is why he is not putting up any big signs. It is a yellowish face brick building.

Actually just had a look at an S200, the o-ring is not located within the barrel, it's on the probe. Will make changing it alot easier.

I wasn't shot or held up by the gang but I had the opportunity to chase after them when they robbed the Volkskas Bank in Kemton Park. As it happened I was pulled off by the cops, no less, for reckless driving and all of us lost sight of them. Just show you. :cowboy:

You know gerrief: your like a magnet for trouble.
Think I'll stay away from 'Cash in transit vans' and gerriefs Opel. Safer that way.

Thanks for all the help guys - I really appreciate it. I did get a few spare o-rings with the gun - I just wasn't sure if this was one of them.

Avion - when you say its on the probe, you mean the little pin that pushes the pellet into the barrel?

Will take a look and let you guys know later. Gotta go see my tax guy now to do my 2004 return - time to get a little raped by the receiver. Will have a look when I get back.

    Ciao for now

Yep Vatanen, it most probably is that one. Specially as you mentioned that your rifle is noisier now that this has happened - caused by the air blowing out the back.

Good luck on the tax forms. Uurgh - worst time of year.

Hi guys - apologies for not getting back to you earlier.

I have (HAD ) 2 spare o-rings that came with the gun. Put in the 1st, I think incorrectly, and lost it after the 1st shot. Put in the 2nd, I think correctly this time - over the "ribbed" area about 1.5cm from the tip of the probe - but after 2 shots - it had torn.

Don't know what the hell is going on - its as if something (maybe the pellets - I still used the Crosmans) is tearing/damaging the o-ring when I load the pellet. Don't understand this either cos I've fired at least 200 of them through without problems before this occured.

Also tried giving the barrel a clean (fish-line, soft cloth) inbetween the 2 o-ring changes, but still no luck.

And to make things worse, to rub salt into my wounds, every Mynah in the area has come into my garden to torment me with its screaches. Its as if they have a 6th sense that they aren't in danger anymore.

Anyway - it looks as if I will have to go in to one of the gunsmiths, unless anyone has any other ideas. BTW, there is a guy up the road from me, behind what used to be X16 that sells FX airguns - maybe he could help. Do you suggest I go to a more reputed place/one that sells and services AA?

Again, many thanks for all the help and advice - where would a NooB like me be without you guys??
