whilst shooting FT, is the sitting position the only position allowed? or are you allowed standing, kneeling or prone?

I think you can shoot anyway you want as long as you dont rest the gun on anything other than yourself. Although some lanes are marked as standing or kneeling

How does one do that? Niether you r elbows nor the rifle may touch the ground.

I have an image in my mind of a seal with a rifle...

    ? Freestyle:
This can encompass the sitting and prone positions. No part of the rifle
or any attachment may touch the ground or artificial / natural features
for support . In the prone position the supporting arm forward of the
elbow may not touch the ground or any object for support .

So if i read this correct your elbows may touch the ground?

"In the prone position the supporting arm forward of the elbow may not touch the ground or any object for support."

You may rest your elbows on the ground, but not your forearms, if I read this correctly.
