What makes these scopes so expensive
Has anyone tried them ?
I looked through 1 looooong time ago and cant even say I was impressed.
I had a couple of Nightforce scopes around 1994, an 8-40x56 front focus with illuminated reticle and a prototype 15-52x56 side focus.
The 8-40 was a nice scope, good optics solidly built. The 15-52 looked like a Custom Shop, but had far superior optics - had it gone into production it would have been the scope to beat for a long time. I have no idea why it never appeared, and I deeply regret selling the prototype.
The NXS scopes as pictured above are built like a tank, optics are good - altohugh I would not say better than a Leupold Mk4 but on a par. However they are not suited to airgun use. As standard they come to a minimum of 50 yards, even if reparallaxed they need a 50 foot adaptor and are limited in what they can do. There are one or two folk who like them but really not a FT scope.
The front focus NF is quite usable for FT (12-42x56), but very expensive.
