    Default Stock making..

To all those out there that has attempted this. I was visitng my friend the other day, he allows me to use his lathe and mil (metal shop) which I must say is most kind of him, anyways I digress. What I wanted to know is has anyone tried to do a stock on a milling machine? After all it is a router (maybe running slower) but still a router.. I thikn I am going to do my inletting on it at the least, because it will allow me to work without templates for the router

JTK, I recon if you do the inletting and so forth on the milling machine, it should work much better that using a router as the stock blank will at least be clamp firm - more control. Just a thought... if you can pick up the contour of your sample stock profile, could save you much time and guesswork. My 2c worth.

Jip going to give it a bash. Just need to chat with my friend 1st. as we all know wood dust and metal "dust" is not the same. Wood dust will end up all over the place and not be easy to "sweep" up
