Default Realistic Choices in .20 in SA?

    Hi guys,

I was sufing the net a bit to consider all the .20 options out there. I soon realised that there aint that many rifles available in .20 ! Most are either .177 or .22 models. And then some of the ones that do come in .20 lacks local Customer Support/history.

So then I ask, What PCP rifles are available to the prospective .20 airgunner in South Africa that can be purchased with peace of mind with regards to after sales support?

drop a .20 barrel into ur BAM is best bet...

lot's airguns are not hard to do this conversion... just remove your factory barrel and ask machinist to copy everything to new barrel. then fit the barrel and shoot.. maybe some guns prob o-ring need replaced... it's really not mission impossiable... i had ranger done in 2 days.

Only .20 PCP with official local support would be Theoben supported by Twinbore ( As you've noticed with the FX stuff, support can be a bit slow at times.). Don't know who supports Daystate. .20 with unofficial support would be the converted AirForce and BAM supported by Boondock ( Don't know if he still does these) and Malan128 (BAM). Don't know who's supporting EVANIX.

I had a similar dilemma as .20 seems to be more prevalent in the Cape and I'm in Pretoria, so I got me a rifle that was simple enough for me to maintain and tinker on, the Falcon FN19-SB .20.

I think you can get Axsors in .20 too, most probably supported by the Logun or FX importers.

Boondock's right though, can't go wrong with a converted BAM.

Boondock, what other makes have you converted so far?

Then there's the locally manufactured .20 PCP's that just don't seem to materialize ...ever. Still waiting for Lloyd from AGF to get his .20 Rapid based WL 11 production ready.

I have a S400erb in .20 and I'm very happy with the rifle and its performance. Vuilhond the only thing to keep in mind is that you must buy enough pellets to last you a while, not many places stock them regularly.

lewis, did you do any conversions other than fitting the barrel to the erb? and what does she shoot now? Have been thinking of doing it to the erb in the future somewhere.

    I've actually shot with a Hansan 125 in .20
Pushing between 25 and 30 ft/lbs. Problem is that it is still a shitty rifle.

Must say, the 97K in .20 is very good. There are a few guys shooting with us that have them. It is ridiculous how far they get one shot kills.

I got the rifle from Guido, think it was just a barrel swop with a decent silencer.
I use Ejin(sp) 25g for shooting up to 50m, JSB 13g for the rest. Tested Predator pellets over Easter and they performed great. I got my first decent 100m grouping with the Predators.

I really think it depends on how deep your pockets go. A Rapid .20 FAC is likely to cost R20,000. If you already have a BAM, the conversion could be done for as little as 1,500 - R2000. I believe your best bet from a local support perspective would be Air Arms or BAM. BAM's can still be purchased from the USA at around R4,000 all inclusive. Here's a list of commercially available .20 FAC rifles on the market that i am aware of - their are actually quite a few.

    1. Daystate
    2. Evanix
    3. Sumatra
    4. Shinsung
    5. Air force (talon - condor)
    6. Rapid
    7. HW
    8. FX

    Fox, you missed mine:
Falcon (been offering .20 for quite a while now).

Also there's the guys who came up with the .20 in the first place:
    Benjamin Sheridan
