Default SBC - Sure Focus Benchrest Club open day

Surefocus Benchrest club will be hosting an open day on Saturday the 13th of June 2015.

The aim of the event is to accomplish the following (or at least try to)
    - Introduce competitive 25m benchrest shooting to all interrested parties
    - Wind reading techniques
    - Introduction weighing and gauging pellets.

We will also be putting up official WRABF targets and running 20 minute relays
    to simulate competition conditions.

SBC will provide all targets and backers. We will also have limited numbers of
rests available on a sharing basis for those that do not have the correct equipment.
Furthermore there will also be a wide range of wind flags/bobbins/rocket flags etc setup on the range.

A wealth of information will be available on the day from a number of Protea Benchrest shots as well
as a wide range of equipment currently used in Benchrest for your perusal.

If you have ever thought about shooting benchrest either competitively or for fun, this will be an event
    not to miss.

The event will take place at the Surefocus shooting range in Meyerton. This is a top-class facility with a
wide range of on-site amenities including a restuarant, coffe shop, gun shop, Chalets as well as
various indoor and outdoor ranges. For more info please visit http://www.surefocus.co.za

We will start at around 09:00 and the cost to you will only be the R80 range fee due to Surefocus range,
this should be paid to Gert van Wyk on the day.

    Question to the Organizing Guys/Gals

I only have my Daystate MK4 available at present, my two AirVolutions are having Mods done and are unavailable at present. Will I still be able to shoot with it in this open day?

    Kind regards

Some more news regarding the shoot at Sure Focus this coming Saturday. The range will open at 0800 and we will start the first relay at 0900.

The topics that we will cover will include:
    - Rifle selection
    - Rifle setup
    - Scope selection
    - Pellet selection
    - The ideal pellet for the class
    - Front and rear rests
    - Target and scoring
    - Wind doping and flags
    - SAPSSF

I want to suggest that those who are interested use our online site to book. This will help us to get an idea of the number of shooters to expect.

    http://www.sgbsa.co.za/Entry-Form.php

Select entry for R80 and select No for the LV and HV drop downs. Only the R80 Sure Focus range fee will apply. Best would be if entrants do an EFT as make it easier to handle payment and change on the day.

    Some other Benchrest News:

The current cycle of the World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Federation - WRABF - will culminate in the World Championships in Brisbane, Australia in July and August this year. South Africa are sending 15 Protea shooters to this event. This includes four juniors Proteas aged between 12 and 17 years of age.

In four years the next WRABF World Championships will take place in South Africa. Most probably in Gauteng.

Next up on the international benchrest calendar is the World Cup and European Championships in Slovenia in August 2017. Interested shooters can start to build up their rankings for the Protea Team selection from competitions that will kick off from October 2015 onwards until the second National Championships late in 2016.

Thank you to Gert and his very friendly BR shootists. I had a very entertaining and fruitful day at Sure Focus. Let me say straight off, they have wonderful facilities and it is a very nice venue. You have to fetch your own Koffee but then a little walk in the cold does wonders for your sinuses.

Gert thank you for explaining all the topics. Guys it was great and to crown it all I put 15 xs into one target string and that made my day.

Thanks again and you will see me again

    Kind regards
