    Default Pellets and children

I thought this woth putting on the web.

TD recieved a call from a unhappy Mom.

Her child had benn suffering with all sorts of problems and landed in ICU.

The Doctor then foung out the kid had lead poisoning.

The child used to keep his pellets in his mouth.

Please dont let your kids do this.

Many of us have done it in the past.We all know it is not right though.

TD did I get it right ?

amaizing. I used to carry my pellets in my mouth all the time when I was a kid and I bet half the people on this site did. Have the composition changed or was the "marksman" pellets we used to hard a compound? Or are they eating the pellets?

The biggest problem is the lead dust which consists of elemental lead and oxides(depending on how old the pellets). The dust/oxides is absorbed easier into the system and the liver gets hit hard by this. Also lead has a bad habit of accumulating in the body. Some people are more susceptible to this form of poisoning than other for various reasons (like they could have an underlying medical condition). Higher cancer risk is on the cards too, especially liver.

Up untill a few months ago I held pellets with my lips... but have since stopped.

I dont think one realises the danger lead can cause one's body.

True, true. We all kept pellets in our mouths when we were young, I suppose.
Except for the bomskok & the liver serosis I think it didn't affect me much.
But, i'm sure the turnaround time between when pellets were manufactured and when they actually get used has decreased dramatically and therefore less leadoxide on the pellet surface and more lead into our systems - one more theory on my side...

This is another reason to at least clean your pellets and coat them with something like Napier. The coating helps prevent oxidation and it tastes bad too.

Never mind the liver, that's just the start....
    This is some scary sh*t:
"Lead may cause irreversible neurological damage as well as renal disease, cardiovascular effects, and reproductive toxicity."
