    Default Scope mounting Troubles!

I just got a new Nikko Stirling Nighteater scope 8-32 x60 IR. Wanted to mount it on my CZ200. Took of the old scope and put on the Nighteater with Nikko Stirling high mounts. The fit is fine but trying to sight the scope is where my trouble starts. It still shoots way too low at 20m - the distance I'm trying to get it zeroed. If I say way to low its 20cm and this is with the elevation wound up all the way.It also sits so close but not touching the barrel that I cannot fit the Sun shade.

Questions: How do I correct the problem of zeroeing the scope? And secondly, Do you get higher scope mounts than these? Will higher scope mounts not increase my first problem?

Mounting scopes is totally new to me and I was really let down when something like this happened! Wanted to shoot my new scope , was so sure I would shoot better now I can't shoot at all!

Iceman, the zeroing problem can be sorted out by tilting the scope forward. Meaning you have to shim it at the rear mount. Cut a piece of credit card and fit it under the scope on top of the mount at the back. That's what we all do. Lifting the scope higher you can get a pair of 13mm raisers. Fit your mounts on top of the raisers. That will sort all your problems.

Thanks Goose. Next Question: where do I get Raisers as there is less than 2mm between barrel and scope?

And the next question: who can give the rifle a good once over in the Pta area?

shim the rear mount but not with a credit card...way too thick.

use some tin foil sheets or some film negative...

    Default Scope shim

Maximum 3 pieces of film negative, cut to the size of the bottom cup of the rear mount....
That will give you about 6 revolutions of the elevation turret setting......
