Went back to Piet Prop this morning hat in hand. I managed to pick up an accessories rail from Louis at AGW and needed some routing done so I could install it. With Piet's permission Henko set it up on the table and routered my channel for the rail. Contemplated doing it by hand but one slip and my stock would of been buggered. Henko thanks for a good job again and Piet and Bets thank you for being so good to me I really appreciate it.

Well the rifle is now ready for the final tweaking and sanding process so no more pictures for a while as you won't see any real change. I am very happy so far with the stock and it's shape as I should be able to use it for Bench as well as out of hand shooting.

Thanks for the comments Wilderboer,Cor and Warrick, I will try not to rush it but I get impatient and just start spending long hours in workshop ...
This eventually annoys my better half and then the crap hits the fan ...

    Looking GOOOOOD Mark!

With regards to crap hitting the fan. In future, just don't fling the crap near the fan, or remove the fan all together.

Here is the answer to your question rifle was in the end finished with Danish oil and then polished. the stock has had 5 coats of oil and 3 heavy coats of wax polish. After much deliberation i decided i did not want a light, high gloss finished stock, varnished or painted, or a dull straight oiled stock. the danish dries to a hard dull sheen and the polish gives it a deep luster but a satin sheen.

The pictures below show the stock after its last oiling coat hanging up to dry.

    Getting Closer.

This weekend i gave the stock its final rub down with steel wool and then proceeded to give it, its coats of polish. After polishing i put the adjustable butt pad on and the accessory rail back on. Somebody asked what they thought the difference in weight between the old stock and the new one would be, well it is 300g. Old stock weighed in at 1.85kg, new one is 2.15kg.

Pictures below show the original stock that had been finish with Truoil and the new one.

    Getting closer.

Well MarkF the answer to your question is Yes ..... it is finished and all put together !!!!!

    Air Arms Pro-Target

    Air Arms Pro-Target

All zeroed in and ready to rock and roll on Sunday, if i get the chance i will give her a trail run on Thursday ......

As this was my first attempt at a complete stock from scratch i am rather proud of the way it has turned out, it is not perfect but close to it from a finishing point of view, and it fits me quite well. Even the wife is impressed with the design but does not like colored wood ....

Is it worthy of being put on Pimped out PCP thread?
