Default Northcliff Airgun Club - Informal Benchrest 2016

the year is off to a flying start....end of January is almost upon us....so....the first shoot of the year is this sunday 31st....the last sunday of the month as per usual.....

we will be doing the following:

    12fpe light varmint
    20fpe heavy varmint
    Springer
snap shoot 5 minutes per bench target
    50m groups

this all depends on numbers present and time....first event will be a tester of sorts.....

we will be shooting each class at the same time...to prevent unfair advantage....
we will draw lanes as per last year...
after some discussion we will put up a floating trophy which will go to the overall winner for the year.....highest score from 6 shoots....any class? it will be in memory of "Vincent Sutherland - Dadds" for 2016....
the usual Braai...Beer and Music will apply...

    any suggestions?

see you all on sunday...09:00am to start shooting by 10:00am....

look forward to seeing y'all there....

To Dallas, Mark_F for the organizing, thanks and a great day. To the Cooks, meat and Koeksister bringers, thanks for lunch. As you say Dallas, great day had by all. I surprised myself with the LV. Grouping I couldn't hit a barn door today. Must be that I am spoilt for a scope on the LV (10-50) and on the grouping rifle (6-24). I will wait for my .20 Airvolution to get finished and put my Airmax 6-32 on it and see how I go.

The snap shoot was a great idea and I think we all had fun shooting it. You need a steady hand and a good tempo to shoot this discipline properly and Dallas and Mark_F shot better at snap than in LV. This format is going to be a winner. I must take the bottle tops and fill with Plaster of Paris.

Mark_F thanks again for the help with the ranging tape and also to Jaco. As a collector, today I scored a bargain which I am grateful for. Once Jaco has done his magic, I am going to pester Mark_F into creating a Vintage section on the Informal Bench Sunday.

Thanks to all who joined us. We had an awesome turnout. Dallas took a pic or two ...

The snap shoot was great fun - we've never had so many shots going off so quickly. Good fun!
The 50m grouping - we need to draw lanes for this. Dave and I proved that the center of that range is a schizo wildcard with the wind, while the outer lanes are far more stable.

    TARGETS:
    1. We need more benchrest targets printed. I don't have enough left for Feb's shoot.
    2. 50m grouping targets - we've probably got enough for the year.
    3. Before anyone schleps out to make the Plaster of Paris targets ... do we have enough time to shoot another event?

That was an awesome day! I will go out and price the printing of these targets. Can't be that expensive and the more you print, the cheaper it'll be, I assume. Will get back to you.

Thanks to all the workers, and thanks to Bets for the koeksusters, they definitely did help.

Lastly, please see my post under the market place for a second hand Theoben 2.0. Would really like to lay my paws on one!

    Kind regards

    Paul

Thanks all for a really good day with some nice results all round, as per usual it was a good bunch of people that made it a brilliant day......

We now have a Queen of Spring....well done Bets on a good days shoot and Janine on a brilliant 50m shoot, and a very special thanks to Dakota, Dallas's daughter for all the computer help, gave your dad a bit more time to play ........

The addition of the Snap and 50m shoots added a bit more variety and fun to the day.

@Mark_F, send me the PDF of the BR target we are using and I will print up some at work while Paul gets us a price. Do we need them on 80gr paper or do we prefer them to be on 160gr paper.

Going to make Plaster of Paris puffers anyway for our Sunday shoots just for the fun of it.

Thanks for the offer, Mike. Paul has already placed the order and will collect soon. While the 160gr (or heavier) paper makes nice, clean-cut holes, the extra cost is just not worth it when you look at how many targets we go through.

    Thanks Paul, much appreciated.

@Mark, send me the PDF anyway and I can make some practice targets for myself, both BR and Grouping.

    Thanks

    Kind regards
