Default Single stroke pneumatic air rifle

Decided to start a stand alone thread for this build. For a long time I wanted a PCP without the PCP. A springer without the spring.
With a lot of research I found someone who had the same idea and with a bit of tinkering and planning I have almost got it right. Been driving me nuts but I am getting there.
Here is a vid of the preliminary testing of my home made hammerless valve.

    Here is the valve

And a old stock I plan to use

I originally was goiny to use a hammer but decided against it and came up with something else.

    Hello Timothy,

You are actually making rapid progress.

I really like your independent thinking and engineering approach to this project.

For the Mark 2 (if there will ever be one) , how about thinking of using a tap loading set-up , something like the old Lincoln-Jeffries or BSA design.

This should in theory allow for easier loading and a much more robust sealing arrangement at the breech.

Keep going , you are doing a fine job.

    Cheers.

    Hi Timothy
Would you mind sharing some of the details of the valve you have made, I tried a similar experimental project a while back where I used a grooved plunger with o ring as a seal, the plunger is pushed back by the pressurised air to uncover the transfer port but unfortunately the o ring only lasted several shots before it started leaking.

Hi Buksie, would be more than happy to. The valve has evolved over the last three weeks. I originally bought a Marauder valve and a Crosman pistol valve to see how they would work. I have since then changed a few times using a number of valves as templates. Namely the Webley venom, the Benjamin 312 and the sharp innova. I will take some picks in detail tomorrow afternoon and post them up. The 312 I used as a template for a shut off type valve to allow for more than one pump and it's the size of the storage area of the Venom that's the "secret" to the compression chamber and I didn't want a hammer so the sharp innova with a backstop trigger release system is the way I am going for now.

    Hi Timothy
It is a pitty to see you go, but don't give up on this build, it will be very rewarding when you succeed.
    Good luck!

Basically the same as the Freedom 700 SSP air rifle.
    Very interesting design though.

Thanks. It is, though mine can be pumped more than once and I haven't figured out his valve/trigger combo yet. Mine will use a hammer. I built four valves trying to get it with out the need of a hammer but they were all prone to leaking. Will figure it out eventually though.

Thanks, Very impressed with how the system works. Now I need to get my hands on a chrono to test it.
