    Default Cheap Walther LGVs ?

Hi all, first post and introduction on this forum.

I got the air rifle bug at huntex this year where I bought a Gamo Replay 10 shot which IO thought would be perfect for plinking on the plot. Within the first week of owning it I sent it off to Paris (NY) to have the gas ram installed. (Thanks Paris for the excellent service )

Whilst browsing at Midas a day or two ago I came across a Walther LGV priced at R2800 and after doing some reading up on this forum how good these rifles are I bought it, thinking this is one massive bargain after seeing these rifles going for R7k plus on online stores. Now today I noticed one in Trappers Trading going for R3k.

My question is are these Walther LGV's lesser versions of the more expensive ones seen or has the pricing just come down drastically?

Thanks all and look forward to all the great information this site has provided

From what I have read, the LGV is an awesome rifle. I assume it is the synthetic stock?

Only difference is the stock. The action on all the lgvs are the same.

I have an LGV Master , it is a rather nice rifle , that being said.

There is one very important caveat however.

Common spares such as seals and springs are not available in South Africa.

That is probably why used examples are relatively cheap at the moment.

I for one would not buy one today.

    Cheers.

    Thanks Juniper,

Yes I have read the unfortunate sitution regarding spares for these - real pity about that.

I still don't understand the pricing on these rifles though - the price I paid for a new rifle was just under R3000. And then found them at around R3000 at another store. Today I was at Blades and Triggers in Clearwater Mall and was quoted a price of around R10k.

How can there be such a big difference in price for the same rifle?

There was some old stock in some stores. Some years ago AOS(suppliers) marked them all down, hence the R3000 price. I know this because myself and late uncle Vince bought some and sold them for R3000. New, now from safari i think is around R6500 somewhere.
