Default Sending air rifles to new zealand

    Any help here...
I got a friend shifting to New zealand, he doesn't want to sell his rifles. He wants to take them with. He has already found out in NZ that he needs a permit/licence there which is cool coz he will apply.
2 issues he has. Saps says they cannot give him any "form" to fill out as its not a firearm. Couriers don't want to assist when he mentions "air rifle" or pellet gun. Anyone been through the process of emigrating and taking your rifles with? Ideas?

If you do not have a firearms licence from your home country

Some countries, such as the United States of America, do not issue firearms licences. In this case you will need to provide:

    • proof that you can legally own a firearm in your own country, such as a hunting permit
    • proof that you have been trained in firearms safety.
Just a simple letter from SAPS stating they are not firearms (if they are not LCA) and a copy of the FCA should suffice.
