    Default Nielsen Speciality Ammo

    Hey guys,fellow shooters.
Last year,17 Desember,i ordered some slugs from NSA, 5.52mm 28gr boat tail slugs.
    I paid R1150 for 200 slugs.
The parcel showed up at the Post Office yesterday the 29th of January......damn.
These things came wrapped like they are going to war, very very good and solid. Thx NSA.
After unwrapping, took out the scale and just grabbed bout 30 slugs from packet.
WOW.......all 30 slugs weighed in at.......27.9 - 27.95 gr. That is with my little scale.
I cant wait to test them and see what they are made off.
    Will post my findings.

At a guess I'd say that they're made of a lead alloy!

    Sorry, couldn't resist a 'funny'.

Surely our local big bore ammo guy can do something similar at less dear prices?

Those things look really innacurate. Almost like a Radius pellet.

They don't shoot badly at the suggested speed, a light lubing works very well, the NSA stuff is slightly more accurate at 100yards...

The advertised BC is pretty close to what my doppler results were at 100yards.

Airgunnut had more than a few boxes of the NSA stuff about two weeks ago, however, those lucky people that snagged slug liners/barrels have probably purchased a large proportion of the stock that was on hand.

Those slugs from Air Rifle Mega Store are sporting Airgunnuts logo so if you like them, they can probably be had cheaper from Airgunnut directly.

These American slugs all seem to perform quite well but at the price they now command - ouch.
I'm surprised African AA haven't produced something yet as it's got to be a a bigger and less risky potential market for them than big bore in this country.
If not I guess we'll have to wait on JSB and Co. Or maybe some enterprising local not pricing their stuff within spitting distance of imported slugs.

Regarding those cast slugs mentioned, apparently cast ones are not as uniform as swaged, due to the heat and associated expansion, contraction etc. At least according to the ones who sell swaged ammo, lol. Dunno how much difference it would make in reality but considering how slugs seems to be quiet unforgiving regarding exact diameter vs the bore I suspect it may be noticeable.
