Default Steyr Silhouette PCP pistol ...pics!

The action is from the LGB1 Biathlon rifle. You shoot with a 5-shot magazine and have to reload after each shot. This is a lot safer than using the LP50 system. Also the accuracy on long distances is better using the rifle system.

These photos where taken at a competition in Austria where we used the LP Silhouette.

I will have one in the next 3 weeks...more pics and review to follow!

    Guido,
I know exactly nothing about pistol shooting but, why do everybody(almost) always grab the barrel when shooting. In rifle shooting it messes up the harmonics of the barrel. Does the same not apply to a pistol? We call it a pistol but it is more a revelover afa I'm concerned. A pistol has it's barrel type of inside while with a revolver it sticks out, so to speak. The last two photos show this guy having a tight grip on things.

good question Gerrie! wondering myself.. But maybe they try and dampen the barrel harmonics? Since the barrel is so short maybe the frequency of harmonic is much higher hence you are able to dampen it a bit? Guido.. Any idea?

That might be it, but I'm worried that you will not hold it the same every time.

could also be that the steyrs have very loose barrels and if they dont hold them tight then the barrel would fall out when the shot is fired? Seems like a logical explination right?

Maybe ageing is stress related to locking children in basements?

heres what i think:an airpistol barrel is much shorter so harmonics is not that important imo and the ranges is much less in pistol shooting and holding a pistol like that give you much more stability

Harmonics are completely irrelevant in a pistol with a short 15mm OD barrel in .177 calibre shooting at 600fps.

That particular hold is used in air pistol silhouette shooting since it seems to be the most stable for a standing shot using a scoped pistol...that's all

Will the adjustable match grips fit on it? I don't like the look of those grips.

As Guido says, those are some sturdy looking barrels. Not like AA who try to remove every last ounce from their barrels.

When they shoot in the creedmore position doesn't the barrel touch on the side of their legs?

there is a reason for those grips....the adjustable grips are extremely uncomfortable when used with a scope in any position where the pistol is close to the face....I have a scoped LP50 and the adjustable grips are not comfy.

The adjustable grips are only useful when shooting single handed in the olympic style stance...
