    Default 1952 BSA CADET

Started the restoration of my 1952 BSA CADET.

Scraped it down with a piece of glass, then 80 grit working up to 800 grit sandpaper.

    Boiled linseed oil

First diluted coat is on. Then 0000 steel wool between coats. Will apply one more diluted coat, then one full strength coat.

Rotorbug here are three of my Cadet Major stocks that have only been oiled with undiluted boiled linseed oil. Approximately 8 coats on each stock. Stocks were not sanded down but one was done by the previous owner

Finished item! I decided to have the metalwork Ceracoated even though I know it is not original. Don't plan to sell the rifle and not concerned about keeping the rifle original.

Anyone know who I can get to assist to repair my BSA Major Cadet?

Not a co incidence that after getting someone in Nelspruit to work on, it breaks after being used for 67 years with no issues.

I managed to find new parts in the UK for 40-00 with piston/new seal.

What do I need to apply to the new leather seal before assembling the rifle?

Rotorbug the recommended product is Neatsfoot oil as suggested by the UK guys.I have tried saddle stockists locally but had no luck finding it. I have always used 3in1 oil which does cause it to diesel for a while until burned off.

Thanks, trouble with overseas forums is they mention product names that are not available here.

I was wondering if Ballistol Oil would work.

I have purchased Crosman Silicone Chamber Oil from the UK. My mother is out next week and will bring it.
