    Competition report:Kraaifontein Airgun division:12 July 2008.

The weather on our first competition day was perfect and we had excellent shooting conditions. No wind in the early morning with a mild breeze from about 12 'o clock onwards blowing from left to right across the range but not affecting pellet flight very much,
As we were expecting quite a few new shooters we set up the range accordingly with few reducers and about 48% of the targets between 10 and 19 meters, 25% between 20 and 29 meters,18% between 30 and 39 meters and 9% from 40 to 50 meters. The trees on the right hand side of Range1 threw some shadows which made target definition tricky in the long grass. We got a good turnout of 19 people of which 15 shot in the official competition.
The competitors took advantage of the excellent shooting weather and Deon Marx posted a perfect score 31/31 in the FT (PCP)division(congratulation) with Jaco Sadie shooting a 59/62 in the HFT(PCP) division to win, Johan Strydom winning the HFT(Springer) division with a 52/62 in his first airgun shoot.
We saw some very promising young talent on the line and we hope to see you all plus our sister clubs at the next competition on the 2nd of August, weather permitting. We need to thank Joe Mentjies who was range master, and his wife Ilse. who did an excellent job as Stats offiser. Thanks Big Joe,Deon and daughter as well as Jaco Sadie.Could not do it without you.
To the competitors, very good scores posted by some shooting in their first competition, hope you enjoyed the day and see you all at the next competition. Please have a look at the photo album and results.

It was great fun and I enjoyed it. I'm pleased with my first round points. Thanks to the orginizers and range officials for setting up the course.

All I can add is that the S400 is a sweet rifle.

p.s. I saw I had a new surname in the points sheet (Jannie Barnard). It's actually Jannie Welman , but then again I didn't complete the form fully , so my bad.

I have to congratulate the coastal clubs on the way that they introduce the newbies to the sport of FT shooting. It is not necessary to scare the living blazes out of the guys from the first day. Make it easy for them to also score decent points so they will come back and you can gradually increase the difficulty to National/world standards, or they can go to Provincial, National shoots to see how it is done by the more pros. So what if the experienced guys post a full score at your club shoots? Well done guys, keep it up and the sport will grow.
