Default Hatsan Model-95 - barrel won't snap shut...

    Hi

I bought a Hatsan 95 from MZE in about 2010.

We're about to emigrate and I'm giving it to a mate.

However, we spent the last few days out on a game farm and my little son and I put a couple hundred pellets through it.

It seems to have jammed - the barrel will not click shut. Sounds like the under arm (excuse my terminology) is hitting something in the spring tube.

    Had anyone encountered this before?

If it's not a self-fix, is there someone recommended he could take it to?

    Regards
    Dave

Have you checked if there isn't a pellet loose in the breach area (like by that pin and bearing underneath)... did you accidentally pull the trigger while the "neck was broken" by any chance

Checked for pellets - took the butt off to make sure.

It may have been fired with neck broken by kids, but I very much doubt it. What would that do?

Firing with a barrel in the broken position - at best if you get really lucky there is no damage.

Generally though it isn't good news, bent barrel, snapped stock or other significant damage can be caused by the barrel flying shut when this occurs.

It could also snap the pin that guides the neck back into position, or damage the bearing/hook thingy on the neck (related to that pin) - if you fire it whilst open... because thats how the neck clips in, even if the spring and stuff were removed removed the neck should still clip in

Yeah, no, it's none of that stuff.

It sounds like something is catching in the string tube.

The retaining pin is fine, the pointy plunger thing that clips over the pin is fine, moves in with no probs.

I think there is something in the spring tube stopping the loading arm from sliding all the way to the end of the spring tube.

Didn't the arm that pushes the piston back when you cock it (connected to the barrel) shift out of place where it slides into place? Have you checked the safty isn't on? It could be the safty causing problems, maybe try disconnect the safety all together, I know the safety on those guns are known to be problematic

Yeh, I get the feeling it's something like that.

    Will have a look.

Hi I had the same problem with a hatsan 135 I sold to a friend. I found that little spring loaded latch on the barrel that locks into the breach had worn and had indentations. It was easy enough to remove and I just filed it flat and rounded it slightly so it wouldn't do it again - now it works 100%. Just put grease on and try not to slam it closed. Hope that helps.
