When tuning a rifle we strive for the longest shot string with the smallest extreme spread possible.
Testing your rifles efficiency is critical in squeezing the most shots from a given platform.
Lloyd Sikes's efficiency calculator is very helpful.

Most. 22 rifles run in the 1.2 to 1.4 FPE/CI range.
Adding a SSG... Spring stopping guide... Or hammer debounce device and the correct valve throat restriction can have a dramatic effect on efficiency.
My P12... regulator removed.... with SSG and valve throat restrictor... Factory transfer port, hammer and hammer spring achieved 2 FPE/CI.
100 shots from 180 bar fill with 15.89gr jsb's.
The rifle is actually set up for 18.1 gr pellets... I just turned out the SSG one turn for the lighter pellets.
If I fill to 155 bar... 51 shots with es of 17fps.
Or fill to 160 bar and get 70shots down to 105 bar with es of 30fps.
Looking at the shot string, I should easily get 80+ shots with a es of 30 fps with a bit more valve restriction and more hammer strike.
Even though the rifle is set up to be adjustable between 20 and 50fpe depending on pellets used, 70 usable 28fpe shots from only a 160bar fill with 302cc air available is very good.
I'll be doing some more valve work since I'm not happy with the performance of JSB monsters... I'll set peak power for 33fpe with 18gr pellets.
