Default Webley Service Mk2 Intercepting Sear Spring Problem.

I'm having a problem with the intercepting sear spring on my Service Mk 2. Should there be a "pip" or "lug" on rifle body to seat the spring on and prevent it from being squeezed backwards and distorted? Mine is smooth - little scratched from spring being squashed - and a spring lasts for 10 shots before becoming scrap.

BiilC there is no pip or reinforcement to the spring. They are just extremely stiff and just sit in the hole of the intercepter sear.regards Craig

    CraigD,
Thanks for reply. I'll try again with last of my stock of springs - bought 3 from J Knibbs. Only 30 miles from shop.
I have just seen a pre-restoration photo on AirgunBBS and there seems to be a recess where spring sits on rifle body. But the rifle has been seriously abused elsewhere.

    Cheers

Hi BillC I have checked all four of mine and the spring sits in a hole on the underside of the intercepter sear. The spring lies on top of the compression tube. Then again mine be incorrectly assembled regards Craig
