    Default Which budget friendly chrony

    Good morning all

I am looking at getting a budget friendly chroni. Which can you recommend?

PS. I own a bayonet style which I cannot get to function.

I am finding the Caldwell one very good. Can also take being shot very well. Much more robust that the folding Pro Chrono. Don't ask!

    Around R2500 at Rashaad.

I got the Chrony F-1 from TechnoPro (@ R1900) a few weeks ago.

Seem to work well (meaning I get readings that I would more or less expect), but was a bit disappointed with the quality of the box. But then, it is the lowest cost one I could find.
They definitely work much better if you can miss them, otherwise go with Blud's Caldwell.

Another feature of the Caldwell is that you have an app to use on your phone. Connect with a USB cable and have your strings as a useable file.

Does not play well with Android at all. No problem with Apple devices though.

Thank you for the replies all.

I bought myself the Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chroni, works well and plays well with my iPhone. Came with a massively long mini-jack cable, which works a charm however you require the adapter thingy for the iPhone X as it no longer has a mini jack.

A nice feature as well is the FPS/FT-LBS display.

I do note that the Caldwell app has bluetooth capabilities, has anyone looked into the possibility of a bluetooth connection?

If you have the V3, you just have to set the sensitivity higher than 8. Works very well for me.

If you have the cheaper "Sporter" version, you cannot set the sensitivity high enough. Someone posted about using magnets to extend the field and got his to work.

As you already have another chrony now, moot point.

Thank you for the info, always handy to know. I have the sporter version which I bought a few years ago on special at Huntex. The chroni is actually a welcome addition as I can use it with my hand weapons as well.
