which is the one to get???? 20-50 X 50 (boosted vx3)
Dale, i see u've got a boosted MK4 M1? whats the difference (structure/features) between the base vx3 8.5-25 x 50 and mk4 m1-16X?
Th Mk4 M1 is a fixed magnification scope, the base mag on the model I own being 16x then fitted with a 2x converter to bring it up to 32x. The base scope is a military grade sniper scope and is shall we say 'rugged', the turrets are designed for dialling. The Mk4 is a beautiful scope for FT, but you need to learn to handle the fixed magnification.
I have also owned the 20-50x50 side wheel, based on the vari-XIII long range target scope - but for some reason I just could not get on with it, but NeilM who I sold it too gets on with it superbly.
I just sold my 18-40x50 side wheel and that was a very nice scope, I found it a lot easier to use than the 20-50, but I still prefer the Mk4 hence that is the scope I have kept.
Most people would say go for the 20-50, but if possible see if you can try one before ordering.
Hope that helps,
I have not really had an opportunity to try the NXS other than on centre-fire rifles so I could not give you an honest opinion of its suitability. I do know that as standard it only focusses down to about 50 yards, but can (with difficulty so I am told) be adjusted for airgun use.
Sorry can't give you a better answer than that at this time.
In respect of the PR/Leupolds they can more or less be buitl to your requirements.
