Every Protea for himself. Always has been, always will be, unfortunately.

We managed to get funding for 2010 in Hungary, but that was when the Proteas were (almost) representative of ALL South Africans, and not just the privileged few. Kurt February and Gary Govender were from the Cape. We can't go and ask for funding with a lily-white majority Afrikaans team....

It is sad that the country does not support shooting sports.

Bennie is not referring to sponsorship, but rather to fund raising, like what Thomery, Phillip, CK and myself did in the past to raise funds for the Proteas. Like with a raffle for a P12 rifle with scope and bag and and and.

Those days some non team members took the initiative to run the raffle.

Maybe the funding for "high" profile sports like our useless cricket team should be taken away and given to guys representing the country in other sports. Maybe then they will pull their fingers out their arses and start winning to get funding back. Same goes for the soccer etc.
Archery has the same problem as do most low profile sports yet these are the ones bringing home the medals.
I find it disgusting that one lays out a fortune to get to comps as well as give your best through hours and hours of practise to qualify and then the very country you represent does sweet squat.
If the qualification scores are achieved, the sports person should be allowed to attend on a personal level.
