    Default S400 regulator

    Hi everyone,

I need some advice please, is it worthwhile fitting a reg to a S400 as far as the costs vs issues are concerned? I hear HUMA regs are the way to go but it seems to be part of a change in the rifle that I have zero experience with so any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx!

    In my experience No
With a 160 bar fill , a bit of practice and observation one would find 40 plus shots that register regulator consistency!
For your needs this should be sufficient.

I bought an unregulated S400 from someone on the forum that was tuned for FT @ 780fps with 8.44gr pellets.
It shoots amazingly from 150-100 bar.

I have spoken to a few fellas in FT regarding a regulator for the S400, and general consensus is that a tuned S400 doesn't need a regulator.

As Bludlust told me - "Jason Guthrie from SA came 3rd overall at worlds using a bog-standard S400."

So it seems that the shooter is the limiting factor with a well tuned S400.
In my case it definitely is - struggling to find time to practise more....in the wind.

    Short answer - No.

The S400 (standard length) is capable of excellent consistency with enough shots for a full FT course of fire.

Adding a regulator might effect a small increase in number of shots but is unlikely to improve consistency, it really isn't worth the cost, plus it adds one more thing to go wrong at an awkward moment.
