    Default scope off center

    Hi,

Recently I discovered that all dovetail scope mounts I have are not sitting on the center of barrel.
all of them are slightly off from the center, depends on scope mounts, UTG accushot mount is off to left, GAMO is off to right etc.
this means it shoots towards left or right side before zero distance and shoots to the other side over zero distance?
can someone plz tell me, is this normal or do I have to worry about?
I've been searching this last couple of days but no luck.

    thank you!

Your dovetail may be narrower or wider than the normal 11mm in which case, standard 11mm dovetail mounts will be visibly off centre. IIRC some BSA rifles have a different dovetail width (3/8" = 10mm?) and these would need a dedicated 3/8" mount.

Even on a standard 11mm dovetail, any mount that clamps from one side will end up a bit off-centre if the dovetail does not conform to the exact width that the mount is designed for but usually we are talking only a few 1/10 of a mm and most won't notice. If it bothers you then BKL mounts have a self centering design but results in a relatively high mount.

    You can also try :
    - shimming but it is a mission
    - try turning the mounts 180 and clamp from the other side
    - always make sure to clamp on the same side at both front and rear

thank you for the input, I'm glad that its not only me lol

I thought same, one size mount wont fit center on various size dovetail rail (9mm ~ 11mm)...
forgot to mention I was testing it on LGU, its 11mm if I'm not mistaken.

seems like BKL mount is way to go if I want dead center mount.
not sure BKL double strap mounts will hold heavy scope on LGU without stop pin

BKL mounts are very high so if you would normally fit a high mount of any other brand, consider getting a medium BKL. Dimensions on their website.
Also...they're made in some parallel universe that hasn't yet discovered the metric system...so don't lose the screws and allen keys

I have airmax 6-24x50 for LGU, I guess BKL-301 (Bottom of Mount to bottom of Scope Tube: 0.979") will be ok height, now I need to find who sells them lol
    thank you all
