    Default Help with Ammunition

    Hi Guys...

I need recommendations on ammo to be used in my CF-30. I am having HUGE issues with consistency.

I have a GAMO SPORTER 3-9x50 30mm scope and am zeroing at 25m

Attempting the setting with Gamo TS-10 (10.5gr) pellets has resulted in me wanting to smash the gun against the wall in frustration. 6 inch grouping!

I have tried Crosman Premier Superpoint, which hardly fit in the breech (tight and difficult to centre), and fly all over the place.

Umarex Domes are better, but my grouping is still around 4 inches (aaaargh!)

Crosman PowaPell seem to be the best of the bunch, with grouping dropping down to about 2 inches at 25m

This is all good and well, but as I want to shoot at targets from 25m to about 40m (Yes OK...Indian Mynahs are too clever for me for close range shots) the PowaPells seem too light.

    Any other suggestions? PLEEEEEASE!!!!

    Thanks

Gamo TS-10 are useless. I don't know who uses them and and for what but I never had good results with them. How are you shooting? Are you using a bench rest?

Have you tried shooting without the scope, maybe 10-15m see if you get a better grouping, just to see if it is not your scope.

I got better results with the Gamo pro magnum in my springer then with the TS10. But it seems to me that the JSB Exact's give even a better result in the QB36-2 then the pro magnum's. Just what I found on mine...

    Due to the average distance.

I wish it was the scope.

I had the same inconsistency with an Oryx 4x32, as I thought it was the scope in the beginning.

Not a bench rest, but a dead rest on a beanbag.

If you suspect that your scope may be damaged. Take it off and shoot open sights. You should easily get sub MOA at 10m.

Try some JSB/ AA /H&N/ Daystate/ FX pellets first before you blame the gun and scope. Don't rest your rifle directly on the beanbag, put your hand under the rifle.

Gamo TS-10 are horrible - I could not get any consistency with them. I used AA Field in my Gamo 1000 and got some nice groupings.

Check to see which size pellets your rifle prefers. 4.51, 4.52 or 4.53

TS10's are not good for your spring either. And I also had horrid results with them. Pro magnums are also terrible. Pro hunters are for some reason much better and are my plinking pellets. AA/JSB/H&N FT in my CFX was the best by far in 4.52mm.
