I see that H&N has released their slugs. Has anyone tested them yet? I'm interested to know how they perform out of the various barrels, especially the FX slug liners, and what weight and size works best.
I have an Impact mk1, and thus had to go for the 21gr slugs
My rifle is bog standard, except for a STX 600mm slug barrel (Old ST 500mm pellet barrel in case)
I am getting 960fps from the .218 and 950fps from the .217
Both group well at my 25 yard target and have a hold over of 0.5-0.75 mil dot at 100 meters
Did not have target out there today, but was shooting dried cow crap out to 110 meters, boy did they disintegrate.
Very flat shooting. I hear work well in pellet liners as well. Contact Rashaak and buy a test pack.
I'm very happy with my purchase @ R220 for 200, it has all other slugs and maybe some pellets beat
THought id share some info on slugs and and how it performs out of my FX Impact X in .22
Ive recently upgraded the Impact a little to improve the power...so did a few things internally and added a 600mm barrel with slugliner courtesy of Kevin @ Airvolution.
Well here are the results :
JSB Monster 25.39gr - Average velocity 970 ft/s - 53 fpe
H&N Slugs HP(.217) 25 gr - Average Velocity 965 ft/s - 51.7 fpe
H&N Slugs HP(.217) 27 gr - Average Velocity 940 ft/s - 53 fpe
H&N Slugs HP(.217) 30 gr - Average Velocity 910 ft/s - 55 fpe
The hammer spring preload has been optimised and the valve limiter adjustment is just past the 4th ring.
Im now getting about 50 full power shots from 250 BAR down to about 165 BAR.
The following groupings were all from 32m and were mostly 5 shot groups and thats my pinky finger in the photos.
Not making any excuses but im sure the groupings will improve if I shoot from a proper bench as all these shots were off of a portable camping table to test the rifle and fine tune the power until it started grouping.
So im yet to really test accuracy but for my purposes(hunting)this type of accuracy is already good enough.
Next I will be testing T3 26 gr slugs which I have quite a bit off and also the G3 23 gr slugs.
Hopefully this helps anyone with an impact to get an idea of the power you can expect and also the accuracy with slugs.
My thumb not pinky!!!
Back to pinky!!
