    Default Caustic Soda

    Hi Guys

Does anyone know where you can purchase some caustic soda/sodium hydroxide from?
I want to use it to take the anodizing off my mounts and then polish them up for a bit of bling.

    Thanks,
    Dave

be sure to get decent pair of rubber gloves and becareful caustic soda is
    nasty, nasty stuff.

Remember put boiling water in a bowl first then add caustic soda, otherway around and it will end up in your face.

i did my mounts like that. it came out looking nice. the caustic soda removes all, but the longest part is the polishing.

I use a marine metal polish. Very good stuff. I pollish my rc boats alu stuff with it. Even without a polish wheel by hand it works a lot better then braso.

I recommend Autosol followed by Brasso, I used that combination on my motorcycles, particularly larger engine covers and clutch housings. I also used a drill mounted buffing wheel but the speed has to be right, very labour intensive.

    Hi guys

Been to a few hardware stores today and most don't even know what caustic soda is. Can someone who has used it before please tell me where you bought it from.

    Thanks
