    Default Hello New to Forum

Hello from the U.S.A. I just ran across your forum recently. I shoot Field Target here in the U.S. I mainly shoot in the Piston Division. My main rifle is a Whiscombe JW-65 MKII .177. I also enjoy shooting International PCP with my Air Arms EV-2, 12 fpe rifle from time to time. I live close to Pulaski, TN and shoot at the Good Ole Boys Club about every two weeks.

I shot in the World Match last year in Pulaski, TN and met some of you guys briefly there. Too bad we did not have more time between matches. I would have enjoyed talking with some of you more...

I was reading your rules for Field Target there in South Africa and I have a brief question. The rules state that the rifle must meet the "12 ft/lbs - below 800 fps." My EV-2 is the rifle that I would use if I attend your match. It shoots 7.9 grn pellets 805 fps or about 11.4 fpe. So, does it meet your regulations? Or, would it need to be adjusted to shoot below 800 fps even though it is already shooting below 12 fpe? I am just interested as I would like to try to make it to your World Match there next year...

Well, congratulations on your Team placing 2nd in this years World match. Job well done! I will be looking forward to meeting you all again in the future.

    Sincerely,

    Harold Rushton
    North Alabama, U.S.A.

Welcome to the forum Pointman. As far as my understanding goes you must just be under 12flbs, but I will check on that for you later.

You can shoot more than 800fps as long as your rifle stays under 12lbs

Thanks for answering my question! I appreciate it very much. I hope to make it next year to your World match. I'm trying to talk Roz Sumpter into making the trip with me as well. We'll discuss it in the coming months and I'll let you guys know.

    Take care,

    Harold

Here is a picture of my Whiscombe JW-65 MKII. It is my favorite springer...

It took second place Piston in last years World match. That was the first match that I had shot with my Whiscombe after purchasing it.

This is a picture of my Air Arms EV-2. It is totally stock, shooting 11.4 ft. lbs. I really enjoy shooting it! This thing is an absolute tack driver.

    Pointman,
Welcome to the forum. As previously stated;under 12ft/lbs, using whatever weight pellet you want.
You realize those rifles will have to acclimatize to our unique conditions here so I suggest you post them over here as soon as possible.
For absolulutely no charge I will be willing to look after them and set them up for you. Yes it's hard to believe someone would do this for free, but we South Africans are a helpfull bunch.

    All the best.

Lovely air rifles you have there, Pointman......
Just out of curiosity, what type of pellets do you use.....????
We do not seem to get good quality ones in the 7.9 grain order......

Ha! Good one... Helpful and a great sense of humor. Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I need someone to take those off my hands someday.
