    Default Hammerli PCP

My Hammerli Air Magnum 850 is now a PCP. Shot it for the first time on Sunday. I was using the open sights as the Leapers is on the Weirauch at the moment. She now carries the range at Northcliff. Maximun charge at the moment is 160bar as from 170 she feels as if she is about to lock down. As I only had access to a hand pump I did not try and see how many shots from a charge or the bandwidth of the sweet spot. She does appear to be very economical as I was only having to pump 20 bars after 40 shots. The next mod is going to be a stronger and slightly heavier sliding hammer block and possibly a slightly stronger spring and a metal spring guide. Oh yes, and a metal trigger to replace the awful plastic unit fitted by Umarex. When the Nikko gets back from the importers is shall fit a scope and then look at grouping, FPS, etc.

It was 650 in CO2 and a JSB would fall out of the air at 40 metres. My guess is 700 to 720. The heavier block should hold the valve open a fraction longer. But then what are experiments for but to discover things. Development is going to be slow until I have a refill bottle.

I have not decided yet Wally. There is still some testing and development to do. The springer will still be on the circuit for a while. If it turns out to be consistent and accurate then yes. I would proably commission James to make a decent stock though. The "Tupperware" standard stock is sort of OK for hunting but with a decent scope mounted the unit becomes top heavy which is probably why Umarex put their little 4 x 32 on it as an optional extra.

Umarex purchased Hammerli a few years ago.
Walther is in the same group.
    Crossbranding has started.
Hammerli always made good quality products and their service was excellent.
