    Default Forgot springer loaded......

    Eish.......

Left my HW97k in loaded state for more than 5 days...... Don't laugh please!

I won't go into the details, but my 97k was left loaded (with safety on off course) for 5 days..... When I realized it, off course I let go of the pellet immediately!

Shot sounded ok..... did some prelim test shooting straight away at 30 yards... no change in elevation.... (huh!!!)

    Rifle seems to be 100%

Anybody else experienced same lapse of brain and for how long?

I'm impressed that prelim resuts shows no fatigue on the spring (standard factory fitted).

Just hope and pray I didn't mess it up with stupidity....

I have seen a site on the net with springer test left with compressed spring for long periods of time - a week and more and then details on the drop of fps. If I find it I'll send it to you.

Try to chrony the rifle, and compare with how it shot before the "cock up" You will see immediatly if there is a drop off in velocity, thats if you've got "old" data to compare against.

With any decent quality spring doing this will have precisely no effect on the rifle.

If the power drops as a result the spring is crap and needs replacing anyway.

I haven't done it with a sring gun through a lapse, but deliberately to see if extended compression periods would drop the power - the answer was no.

    Dale is correct..

springs in springers deteriorate from continuous loading and violent decompression....leaving them compressed should have little or no effect on their longevity...
